DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION STATEMENT OF PSP SPORTS
At PSP Sports, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information (including characteristics and testing), military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law. PSP believes that diversity and inclusion among our employees is critical to our success as a company, and we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
PSP has a long and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion within its organization.
In 1992, PSP was one of the first major sports media marketing agencies nationwide to hire an African-American as President/CEO when it hired Jarred Metze as President in 1992. Mr. Metze, a Howard University graduate, served as President from 1992-2001 and instilled in the company an ethos of diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization which continues to this day both within the company and in its external efforts.
Internally, PSP maintains a diverse workforce throughout the organization representing many races, cultures, religions, sexual orientations and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition, PSP provides opportunity for development and advancement for all within its workforce.
Externally, PSP has supported a number of publication and media initiatives designed to enhance and promote an inclusive world. For example, PSP has collaborated with USA Today to develop, market, and distribute annual special edition publications such as Black History Month, Hispanic Living and Women’s Health, all of which feature informative content not traditionally widely available within U.S. media. In addition, PSP’s Hoop Magazine, produced in conjunction with the NBA, regularly addresses social justice issues at the urging of PSP employees.
In addition, PSP actively supports its employees own efforts to improve opportunities for all in their local communities. Current senior executives at PSP Sports have made large impacts to help promote a diverse and inclusive world of opportunity. For example, our Executive Vice President of Business Development and Legal Affairs, Martin Lewis, is a volunteer basketball coach and board member for Mid Atlantic Select Youth Association, a non-profit organization located in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area where his teams consist of mostly African-American student-athletes. Mr. Lewis has assisted more than 100 student-athletes in obtaining scholarship opportunities at colleges and universities nationwide as well as career opportunities in and outside of basketball. Mr. Lewis is also co-chairperson (along with Curtis Symonds, Co-Founder and current President of the HBCU Network and a former senior executive of Black Entertainment Television) of the Leroy Charles George Washington University Men’s Basketball Mentoring Program. This program has provided life skills and career mentoring to over 150 student-athletes in the past 25 years.
Numerous other PSP employees have volunteered their time at, and contributed to, food banks, shelters, youth, religious and civic groups, and social justice organizations throughout the U.S., all in an effort to alleviate economic, educational and racial inequality. PSP actively supports these employees’ efforts through fundraising support and other efforts.
